Grog Shop

Cleveland, Ohio

He Is Legend, Emanuel, Halifax, From First to Last

Review by Michael Mason

As the line grew longer at Cleveland, Ohio’s Grog Shop, anticipations grew higher.  Finally, doors opened and He Is Legend came out.  They ended up stealing the show.  By far they were the best act of the night. Many a concert-going teen went to see them and them alone.  Some of the crowd left after they performed, other parts just stuck around to hang out with friends.   Halifax put on a good show, even with the lackluster crowd reaction.  Emanuel are some good rockers, but also ran into some crowd problems, seeing as much of the crowd was either there for Legend or From First to Last.  When From First to Last finally took stage, the remaining crowd went nuts; much moshing was to be had.

Bands can only do so much though, and From First to Last was blown away by Legend’s stellar performance.  You just can’t compete with southern rockers who do what they do just for the music.  Their style is a blend of aggressive tones and all out rock.  In this day and age, it’s rare to find a band so into what they do simply because they like doing it.  An artist unmotivated by the rewards they reap in this lucrative music industry.  Legend just likes getting up on stage and rocking out.  They don’t claim to be anything but “a couple of dudes rocking out,” as lead singer Schuylar pointed out during the show once or twice.

The night could be summed up in just three words: He Is Legend; but that’s not enough for me to post, so I wrote a few more than that.  Even if all I end up saying is He Is Legend, I still get my point across.  They stole the show, and were well worth any cover-charge needed to see them.  They could tour with the best bands on earth, and they’re only just getting started…
