Review by Michael Mason If a CD has ever truly lived up to the underground hype given to it, this is it. The easy listening of the music is perfect for sitting and relaxing to, yet also has enough edge to it to be worth rocking out with if you are in the mood. The music might be slow but the spirit in the lyrics is wild and ready for something new. Keith Goodwin of Days Away once said, “We’re really just feeling our way though right now.” Well Keith, it looks like you felt in the right direction. Some songs seem to be about confusion, others hope, still others are about being alone, yet the overall tone of the CD is a good one. The mixture of bass lines, guitar riffs, and keyboard solos are done just right here. The melodies flow, the lyrics speak true, and the emotion is present. Even with the keyboards and mellower tones, this is not an emo band. This is a band of music, a band of brothers, a band of things to come, great promise lies on the horizons with this amazingly mixed debut CD. Days Away consists of front man and lead singer Keith Goodwin along with Chris Frangicetto, bass; Matt Austin, guitar; Tim Arnold, drummer and Bryan Gulla on keyboards. These members combine to create an eclectic blend of harmonious sounds that pours fourth from your speakers with a flowing effervescence rivaled only by a calm mountain stream. Some sample song titles are “God and Mars,” “T. Cline’s Decline,” and “Gravity.” Each of these songs is similar in sound, yet its own unique beast. If you’re looking for some easy listening and a CD you could rock out to, this is the one to add to your collection. It fits like a glove. Rating: 83/100
